Contact Information (ENGLISH version):
Q. What is the difference between custom and typical installations?
A. Choose Typical for first time installation. The Custom option is there just in case if you ever need to re-install this program. Within the Custom option, you can uncheck the DB Files option so your current animal data will not be overwritten with the empty database files. Important note: we strongly suggest that you should back-up your animal data before any re-installation.
Q. I am trying to back-up Herd Management 2000 database files. Where are those files?
A. Usually you should back-up the whole directory which should be located at 'C:\Program Files\First Step Software\Herd Management 2000 - Bison Edition'. Anyway, the database file is 'hm2000bison.db'. You should also back-up the file 'hm2000bison.ini'. This file stores the program needed configurations.
Q. What is the serial # for the evaluation version?
A. The evaluation version includes full functionality with 30-day limitation.
    Register Name: demo
    Serial #: demo
Q. Is there any help document?
A. Yes, you can access the help pages from anywhere within the Herd Management 2000 program by pressing the F1 function key.
Q. How do I use the bison group edit feature within the 'Bison List' window?
A. Here are the steps to assign group to bison:
- Open the Bison List window.
- For viewing purpose, scroll the list to the right until you see the column 'Bison Group'. Another thing that you could do is to click and drag the 'Bison Group' column header to the left next to the 'Name' column. This will allows you to see both bisons name and bison group at the same time.
- Now, let's assume you want to make a new group H. Enter letter H into the 'Bison Group' entry. If you want to assign a bison to only group H then uncheck the 'Join Group' check box so when the 'Assign Group' button is clicked, the bison's group is cleared before assigning the new group.
- Highlight the bison that need to be in this new group and click the 'Assign Group' button. Continue this step for other bisons.
- Click the 'Bison Group' radio button within the 'Bison List' window to list only bison which belong to the selected group. After a group of bisons is selected then click the 'Group Edit' button. A pop-up warning message should appears to warn you that all changes made will affect all bisons in the bison list. *** Remember changes made to a group edit will affect all bisons listed in the Bison List window.
Q. I am trying to add a bison to a group, say H2. Somehow, it got me a little confused.
A. What's happening is that you are assigning your bison to 2 groups by assigning H2. The rule is only 1 character can be used for a group. By assigning H2, your bisons belong to both group H and group 2.
Q. Why does the entry from the drop-down list within the 'Training' tab folder not scrolling after I've entered the first few characters?
A. The look-up function of the white drop-down entry behaves different from the yellow drop-down entry. Since you can enter text into the white drop-down entry box, you will need to press the F4 function key to show the drop-down list. Now, you can type in the first few characters and notice the list will scroll to the nearest match. To make the nearest match as the current entry, just press the down-arrow key. Also, do you know that you can insert and delete record line by pressing the ctrl-Insert and ctrl-Delete keys? These are some of the nice keyboard only features since some user prefers to use the mouse only when needed.
Q. How do I put a company logo on the pedigree print-out?
A. The company logo will automatically appear on the pedigree screen by assigning a logo in the owner screen. Just access the owner information screen and toward the bottom there is a place where you can add a logo to the owner.
